For every athlete, waking up in pain is a part of the process and whether you hate it or love it, if you love to play, you know the pain is here to stay. Whether you compete now, used to in high school, lift weights to compete or stay in shape, whether you only do cross fit or frequently run in charity 5/10ks; no matter what it is you do to keep yourself healthy everyone can relate to waking up with sore and stiff muscles from a good workout.
Marines say pain is weakness leaving the body. Biologists say that as mammals humans generate lactic acid to rebuild our muscle fibers that break down as a result of putting intense strain on said muscles or muscle groups. Football players wear pain like a badge of honor. Basketball players know the paint is for hardbodies only. Hockey players come to blows at center ice, while both baseball and soccer players know about spikes. There's a reason lacrosse players wear helmets and pads, and rugby players need to cover their ears. Any contact sport comes with its fair share of bumps, bruises and cuts. Unfortunately, concussions, ligament tears, bone breaks and sprains are also a result of these sports.
No matter what pain you're feeling, no matter what level you compete at, todays Monday Motivation is to keep pushing through the pain to achieve the goals you desire. You are your own biggest obstacle and when you overcome your pain, your strength will be a force to be reckoned with.
